McKenzie Method

Relieving Pain and Empowering the Patient

Pioneered by a New Zealand physical therapist on the theory that most musculoskeletal pain is caused by certain motions or postures, this uses various movements and positions to relieve pain and correct the behavior causing it.

Passing through the buttock and down the back of the thigh into the sole, the sciatic nerve connects the spinal cord with the leg and foot. When something’s wrong with the sciatic nerve, such as when it gets squeezed near the L4 or L5 discs in the spine, the pain can be bad. The McKenzie Method can help you on your road to recovery. If you slouch, you may benefit from diagnosis and treatment with the McKenzie Method, which calls for educating the patient, correcting bad posture and other habits, and avoiding putting prolonged stress on the affected area.
