When parents worry about Little Leaguers throwing curveballs, they’re worried specifically about the thick, triangular ligament on the inside of the elbow. The UCL, or ulnar collateral ligament, is put at risk of lasting injury by the severe arm torque required to throw a curve. While anyone can tear a UCL, athletes—especially those who throw a lot—are at higher risk.
