Osteoarthritis

The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease, is caused by the slow erosion of cartilage cushioning the ends of bones. Though osteoarthritis can invade any joint, it’s usually found in the hands, hips, spine, or knees, where it causes painful swelling and sometimes bone spurs. The odds of developing osteoarthritis of the shoulder rise with age.
