Femoroacetabular impingement is a long way of saying your hip hurts a lot. If you have FAI, extra bone growth has deformed the joint, compromising the way the parts of it fit together and making the whole thing balky and painful; the two bones rub together when you move, which feels just like you might expect. Over time, this kind of attrition can damage the joint.
